breakneck gorge
whats happening
A snapshot of what you can expect to experience if you stay at Breakneck Gorge Retreat — both on and off the property!
January
Lavandula Lavender Harvest - just 2 minutes down the road. Gourmet food consumed to the aroma of freshly harvested lavender.
February
Garden of St Erth Festival - a beautiful open garden at Blackwood. Or stay at home, wander the gardens surrounding the Retreat and eat fresh plums and apples from the laden fruit trees.
March
Chillout Festival - big city action with a country twist during the region’s gay and lesbian festival. Not much grass around at this time of the year but a great chance to hand feed the Angus steers and miniature ponies!
April
Swiss Italian Festival - local heritage brought to life in the main street of Hepburn Springs. Enjoy an extended autumn break over Easter.
May
Visit the all year round open-air Sunday market at the station in Daylesford or travel further a field to the local farmers’ produce markets and the boutique wineries.
June
The season has changed and hot spas, open fires and long lunches are the order of the day.
July
If you are lucky you might wake up to snow!
August
While the wild life definitely has a mind of its own kangaroos lazing in the sun is a likely sight from your couch - especially the mob of 50 who have made Breakneck Gorge their home.
September
A great time to walk the local tracks especially to the famous Blowhole.
October
A splash of colour with fresh cherry blossom and paddocks dotted with clusters of wild irises and daffodils.
November
Daylesford Agricultural Show - a taste of country life.
December
The Highland Gathering and the sound of bagpipes in the air. There is no break neck pace here just peace and quiet during the hectic lead up to the end of the year.
